Lotus Cars manufacture race and sports cars. They are a British automobile company and which builds and designs production and race automobiles of fine handling and light weight characteristics. While the company was formerly owned by Bugatti, it was acquired by Proton after the owner filed for bankruptcy in the year 1994.
The Lotus Elise is a rear wheel drive, mid-engine, two seat roadster which was first produced in the year 1994. It was however released only by September 1996. The body shell of the car was made of hand finished fiber glass atop the extruded bonded aluminum chassis. This provides platform which is rigid for suspension, while at the same time keeping the production and weight cost at a minimum.
