Fiat aims to increase its stake in the Chrysler Group to 30% in the following weeks, after it will clear two of the U.S. government obstacles which are linked with receiving of increased holding. Sergio Marchionne, Chrysler’s CEO, plans to retail Chrysler vehicles under the Fiat name in the Brazilian market, in a bid to reach their first goal of making 90% Fiat dealers in Latin America offer vehicles from Chrysler.
This plan will allow Chryler’s CEO to side step the negotiations of Chrysler contracts with dealers as well as avoid costs of introducing a new brand in Brazil, where currently Fiat has the biggest market share. Fiat recently met Chrysler’s second demand for $1.5bn revenue as Fiat had a stake in Chrysler.

Volvo Corp. recently announced that they plan to hire around 1,200 new employees as well as expand their capacity at their European factories baking on the strong worldwide demand. Most of the employees, they plan on hiring are product development engineers.
The CEO for Volvo, Stefan Jacoby, said that the car manufacturer expects to sell a significant number of cars this year in comparison to last year following a downturn which affected car manufacturers badly.
Early in the year, Jacoby had said that Volvo would be switching from defensive to offensive mode. This is part of the manufacturer’s aim for boosting worldwide volume from 800,000 vehicles per year by the year 2020, if not sooner from the 373,525 vehicles produced in the year 2010.

An independent company dealing in waste management, B&M Waste Services continues to expand their fleet of Volvo trucks with their purchase of the new Volvo FM Trucks, after the last purchase of Volvo trucks last year in October. This new FM-370 is an 8×2, truck that loads from the rear end and has a rear steer.
This truck is also available with an automated I-Shift gear box. The truck that they have purchased to add to their fleet is of a day cab configuration. Mounted on Volvo’s own chassis is a Farid RCV 30 cu m body, with a technology by Euro-5 SCR and also features the driving package.

The worldwide competition and service personnel and mechanics training program held by the Volvo trucks’ and Buses’ has just announced their recent results. The 2011 Vista model has made it to the semi final stage in this competition. The aim behind this competition has been to improve as well as develop the skills as well as knowledge of the employees as well as to improve the aftermarket services for the customer offered by Volvo trucks.
The competition has so far made a record registration of teams. Around 3,740 teams signed up and have been participating in this event. These include almost 102 teams from Ireland and Great Britain alone. Ford’s new Ranger Wildtrack recently debuted at this year’s International Motor Show in Geneva. The new Ranger from Ford is their latest offering of compact and high quality pick up trucks for its overseas markets. The Wildtrak is a more stylish version of the new T6 model of from the Ranger series by Ford, which will start retailing this year.
The powertrain of this truck is not yet out, however it is expected that the model is powered by a 3.2 liter five cylinder diesel engine which delivers a horsepower of 197 and a torque of 346 pounds feet. Its towing ratings meanwhile are about 7,385 pounds or 3,350 kgs. This truck features unique alloy wheels measuring 18 inches and also has a roof rack as well as a sports hoop to enhance the profile of the truck.

BMW, the German auto company recently unveiled its electric car model which had been promised in the market for weeks now. They unveiled their new sub brand which they have named the i. In the beginning, this sub brand will have two models showcased under it, the i8 which is based on Vision Efficient Dynamics and the i3 which is a former Megacity.

After the GM Daewoo Co. replaced its Korea debt early in December 2010, the company decided that they had to make their presence known in the regional/ local market. As a result it announced the replacement of its present nameplate by refreshes and the introductions of new products under the badge of Chevrolet.
Daewoo’s parent company GM named GM Korea in Korea will continue with the same GM Korea Ltd. name as it tries to focus more on its Cadillac brand. The CEO and President of GM Daewoo, Mike Arcamone, said that their sales increased by 20 per cent in the last year, while their market share in the domestic region increased by double digits and their exports soared by 35 per cent.

Seeing to this Chinese auto executives say that, Chinese carmakers are focusing on their domestic market which is expected to grow sky-high levels.
World largest populated country having 1.4 billion inhabitants, China is expecting to sell more than 75 million vehicles a within next ten years.
President of BAIC Group Wang Dazong stated that China would reach high sales of 40 million cars in next 10 years.
BAIC Group is China’s 5th largest automaker.
China experienced a sale of over 18 million vehicles last year, seeing an increase in sales by 32% over 2009 stats.
