Cadillac is an American luxury brand, which is also among the oldest in America. Founded in 1902, they were the first to start mass production of automobiles. While they mostly produce cars, they also dabbled in the pick up truck market, by bringing out a crossover truck in the Escalade series.
Cadillac Escalade is a luxury SUV model, which was their first foray into the SUV segment. This SUV was introduced as a 1999 model, in a bid to compete with the Japanese and German competitors that had started to flood the U.S. markets. After 10 months since the project for creating this SUV, was approved, the SUV went into production, which gives an idea of the competiton Cadillac was then facing.

Cadillac Escalade has a very special position for Cadillac which is luxury brand of General Motors. With Escalade, Cadillac entered the luxury SUV segment in 1999. Escalade was a quick project as the car ran into production only in 10 months from the period when it was proposed. The quick production was in response to competition arising from Lincoln Navigator and other Japanese and German models. Cadillac Escalade is with strong personality and also its name comes after a warfare technique to over come defensive enemy hurdles “escalade”.
