The competition has so far made a record registration of teams. Around 3,740 teams signed up and have been participating in this event. These include almost 102 teams from Ireland and Great Britain alone. There were three rounds concerning theoretical questions in the beginning, after which 150 teams have managed to make some progress to the first of as many as 16 semi finals.

These 16 semi finals will be held over nine different locations, and will have 30 teams who will then qualify for the last World final to eb held at Gothenburg in the month of June.

So far 10 teams from Ireland and UK have managed to reach this round quite successfully. The semi final round of these teams will be held at Thessaloniki in Greece during the middle of April. By the time, this round is over there will be only two of the best performing teams who will be presented with the opportunity of progressing to the competitions World Final in June at Gothenburg.

The ten teams from Ireland and Great Britain who have been successful so far are those from Volvo dealerships which are located in Norwich, Felixtowe, Trafford Park in Manchester, Hythe in Kent, Preston, Ayr, West Thurrock in Essex, Glasgow and Cork in Ireland and Spalding.

The VISTA Project Manager, Johanna Lundberg, stated that all the teams who managed to successfully complete the first three rounds have to be congratulated for the magnificent efforts that they put up and especially considering the competition level, all of the teams who have managed to make it to the rounds of the semi final should be extremely proud of themselves.

She also added that the standards set in the competition have been quite high, and she also hopes that the VISTA 2011 has been inspiring as well as motivating for all the teams that took part in them, however what is most important is the fact that the participants kept telling them of how much they had learned from this competition.

The Lotus Elise is a rear wheel drive, mid-engine, two seat roadster which was first produced in the year 1994. It was however released only by September 1996. The body shell of the car was made of hand finished fiber glass atop the extruded bonded aluminum chassis.
